Before I continue with the review I want to clarify something: after reviewing a game I give a rating which instead of stars its controllers, so 3 dark controllers and 2 grey controllers is 3 out of 5 stars (for example). Buy the game here Okay, so I want to start this review off by saying that Cuphead is a really, really, really great game. Let me accentuate this point; it's one of the greatest games of this year and probably 2018 too. So you're probably asking yourself right now: "What the hell is Cuphead?" Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game, based on 1930's cartoons. The game's storyline is heavily focused on boss battles since, well, the game wasn't supposed to have any story and was supposed to be only boss battles at first. The developers decided to add a story last minute, which explains the tardy release. People praise the game’s 1930’s cartoon aspect a lot, because it’s done so well. They also praise the sound and music which adds massively to the game’s art style. However no game is perfect, and this game isn’t an exception. People complain that the save file system is buggy and broken, they say that sometimes your save file just disappears and you have to start all over again, this is especially infuriating for people who are quite far in the game and have almost finished it. People also complain about the difficulty settings because in the game, if you’re on simple mode, at some point in the game it will force you to go to regular mode, which can be annoying for super casual players who don’t really want a challenge. Honestly, I think Cuphead is a really good game and sure, it has a few bugs, but they’re easily fixable. I think this game is way better than most of the popular titles released this year, and I’ll tell you the reasons why: The game had an impeccable release and it met up with people’s expectations for the game. That’s all you need to make gamers happy, and that is one thing most game developers don’t understand. In my opinion, and I think a lot of gamers will agree with me on this: it’s better to postpone a launch date for a game and have a good, polished off game, than rush the crap out of a game and get it launched as soon as possible, and have a buggy, broken, boring game. Taking everything into consideration I give Cuphead the following rating:
